How ProfitLens uses merchant data.

ProfitLens combines Shopify, advertising and merchant-provided cost data to calculate operating profit. It is a reporting and analytics product, not a campaign management tool.

Overview of data usage

ProfitLens uses connected and configured data to calculate profit by order, product, day and period. The core purpose is merchant-facing profit reporting, cost attribution, diagnostics and analytics.

Shopify data usage

ProfitLens uses Shopify store, product, variant, order and refund data to calculate revenue, refunds, COGS coverage, product profitability and order-level profit. Shopify data is used to operate the ProfitLens app for the connected merchant store.

Meta Ads data usage

If a merchant connects Meta Ads, ProfitLens may import reporting data such as daily ad spend so paid marketing costs can be included in profit reporting and diagnostics.

Google Ads data usage

ProfitLens uses the Google Ads API only for read-only reporting of daily advertising cost data from Google Ads accounts connected by the merchant. This data is used to calculate operating profit by combining ad spend with Shopify orders, refunds, COGS, payment fees, shipping costs, fixed costs and other marketing costs.

ProfitLens does not create, edit, pause, remove or manage Google Ads campaigns, ads, keywords, bids, budgets, audiences or account settings.

Google Ads data is used only inside ProfitLens to provide profit reporting, cost attribution, diagnostics and merchant-facing analytics. It is not sold, used for advertising targeting or shared with unrelated third parties.

Manual cost inputs

Merchants can configure cost inputs such as fixed costs, shipping assumptions, COGS overrides and other marketing costs. These inputs affect the resulting profit calculations and remain part of the merchant-controlled cost model.

What ProfitLens does not do

  • ProfitLens does not manage Google Ads or Meta Ads campaigns.
  • ProfitLens does not create, edit, pause or remove ads, keywords, bids, budgets or audiences.
  • ProfitLens does not sell merchant ad data.
  • ProfitLens does not replace accounting, tax, legal or financial advice.

Data retention and deletion

ProfitLens retains data for as long as needed to provide the service, support merchants, maintain security and comply with applicable obligations. Merchants can request deletion or deinstallation-related data handling through support.

Security practices

  • Access to connected data is limited to the purposes described on this page.
  • Merchant connections are controlled by the merchant and can be disconnected or reconnected.
  • ProfitLens separates merchant stores in application logic and uses authenticated Shopify app access.
  • Technical logs may be used for diagnostics, reliability and abuse prevention.
